Engaging students across the nation

Next Generation Service Corps Programs (NextGen Service) engage students at the undergraduate level through coursework, internships and experiential learning. This looks different at each university as every program is built to be responsive to the needs of the communities that they serve.

 

Our guiding principles include: 

  • Engage students in a multi-year curriculum of at least 2 years.
  • Recruit students from all disciplines and majors.
  • Prioritize recruitment of student populations traditionally underrepresented in government.
  • Emphasize public service values and community engagement.
  • Integrate experiential learning through internships and mission-focused projects.
  • Offer structured opportunities to collaborate with fellow students outside the classroom.
  • Establish learning objectives and competencies to develop students into public service leaders.
  • Award a minor or certificate credential upon completion.
